Two stages of cleaning happen inside a single housing. First, dirty water meets the drum where solids are separated out. Then the water passes into a fluidized bed of media, kept moving by air. Looking inside from the top, the layout runs left to right: the rotating drum filter on the left, the middle fluidized bed chamber with its air pipes, and the green Matala mat chamber on the right.

At the heart of this system sits a rotating drum filter (RDF) that captures the fine particles standard filters miss. The drum measures 38 cm x 40 cm and turns at a slow, steady pace.

Manual filter cleaning becomes a thing of the past. The automatic rinse function flushes trapped debris out on its own, keeping the sieve clear and your maintenance minimal.

Debris is separated and rinsed off before it ever reaches your biological media, so the whole system keeps working at its best.

Setup stays refreshingly simple. The control box arrives plug and play with a stainless steel float that tells the system when to clean. The front carries the Sea Side Aquatics brand logo, a manual cleaning button and a red on/off switch.
