The classic four-leg design gives you a wide footprint and rock-solid integrity to stand tall against wind and weather. Built from 18-gauge galvanized steel, the tower is engineered for long-lasting durability in the elements.
Pick the tower height that suits your landscape. Taller towers catch more wind, especially useful on flat ground without a hill or ridge to lift the head into cleaner airflow.
When it comes time to anchor the tower, dig 30 to 36-inch deep post holes centered precisely around each leg base, drive the 4-foot ground stake rods completely down through your leg stake clamps, level everything up, and pour a minimum of two bags of Quikrete or concrete mixture per hole to lock the system down against severe weather. As you build, always make sure each upper leg piece overlaps the outside of the lower leg piece so rainwater sheds away from the seams instead of trapping rust-inducing moisture. Each section uses a pair of cross-braces where one brace is slightly shorter than the other on purpose, since the shorter brace is where your adjustable eye-bolt tensioner attaches. Leave all nuts finger-tight during buildout, then once the tower is framed use an impact wrench to tighten the corners first and the cross-brace eye-bolts last to pull out any remaining structural slack.
No scary climbing required. The included heavy-duty tower hinge system and brackets let you set up the windmill and pivot the entire steel structure back down to the ground whenever you need to service it.
Everything you tend to sits at a safe, comfortable height, so routine upkeep stays quick and hassle-free. Most owners get the whole system installed in one to two days using basic tools. Raising the completed tower normally requires 3 to 4 people to keep the base from sliding, unless you take advantage of our custom OWS Hinge Kit, which lets you tilt it up without that extra crew.
The rugged galvanized steel tower carries a 73" angled, self-governing head that automatically manages itself in strong gusts. When winds climb past 30 mph, the head shuts down to prevent over-spinning and blow-overs, protecting your investment through severe weather.

When you assemble the head, pre-grease the pivot hub by applying a premium marine-grade grease to the pivot pin before lifting the head onto the mast. Let the fan blades naturally settle into a 10 to 15-degree upward pitch before torqueing them down, since that precise angle maximizes torque in low-wind conditions. As you slide the compressor shaft into the hub, align the flat grooves on the shaft with the two internal hub set screws and tighten securely, then clamp the large compressor U-bolt tightly to the pivot tube so the head cannot spin independently or slip downward during high-wind storms. Be sure the tail arm bolts face inward toward the compressor body when mounting the tail fin.
At the heart of the system sits the high-output BalCam II compressor, a stainless steel reciprocating unit with fewer moving parts for less wear and lower maintenance. Wind spins the blades, the compressor generates air pressure, and that air travels down the airline to a diffuser resting on your pond floor.
Those bubbles break down muck and algae while circulating oxygen throughout the water, helping stop a toxic low-oxygen layer from building up and flipping your pond.
To connect the plumbing, thread your 1/2" poly tubing up through the pivot tube and connect it to the compressor with the 90-degree brass barb elbow (needle-nose pliers make this easy). Zip-tie the line down a tower leg and tighten the elongated hose bracket firmly around it, which forces the hose to safely twist on the brass barb elbow rather than kinking or snapping as the head rotates 360 degrees. Rather than dropping a bare air stone onto a soft pond floor where it can sink into the muck and clog, clamp the air stone to the line and place it inside a bucket weighted down with 3 inches of gravel, stones, or concrete to keep it cleanly suspended just above the muck layer (some of our kits include buckets for this). Tie a durable nylon rope from the weighted bucket handle up to a floating marker buoy so you can easily locate, pull up, and service your air stone down the road.
The base package is a strong foundation you can grow with. It ships with 100 ft of non-weighted 1/2" poly airline to position your tower away from the water and still reach the compressor.
